Practical support for the hour before your driving test
The final hour before a driving test can feel different from a normal lesson. You know the skills, but you may want time to settle, adjust to the car and refresh the points that examiners commonly assess. Our driving test lesson gives you a calm, structured warm-up before your Service NSW appointment.
We pick you up one hour before your test where the pickup suburb, test time and instructor availability can be confirmed. During the warm-up, we focus on observation, lane positioning, speed control, low-risk decision making, parking and any areas that need a final check. You then use the same car for the practical test.
If your instructor believes more preparation is needed, we will explain that clearly. Some learners benefit from extra manual driving lessons or automatic driving lessons before attempting the test. You can also review current lesson options on our driving lesson pricing page.
How the test booking works
What happens on driving test day
-
1. Send your test details
Tell us your Service NSW test time, test location, pickup suburb and whether you need a manual or automatic car. You can request this through the driving lesson booking form or contact us first if you are unsure. Before confirming, we check timing, pickup details and instructor availability.
If you are still building test readiness, we may suggest further practice through our manual driving lessons or automatic lessons before booking the test car.
-
2. Complete the one-hour warm-up
We pick you up one hour before the test when your booking is confirmed. The warm-up lesson is used to settle into the vehicle, check mirrors and controls, practise observation routines and review driving decisions in normal traffic. It is not about cramming, it is about steady, safe driving.
If you want to compare lesson options before the day, visit our driving lesson pricing page or check whether your suburb is listed on our service areas page.
-
3. Use the car for your Service NSW test
After the warm-up, you use the driving school car for the practical driving test with Service NSW. We help you arrive with enough time to follow the required check-in process and keep the day organised. Government test fees and licence fees are separate unless Service NSW states otherwise.
For general enquiries, you can use our contact page. If you decide you need more practice after the test, we can help you plan your next steps through lesson booking.
What we focus on
Driving test preparation that checks the details
Observation and decision making
We review mirror checks, blind spot checks, gap selection and scanning. These habits matter in traffic, lane changes, turns, roundabouts and parking tasks.
Control of the vehicle
We check smooth steering, braking, acceleration, lane positioning and the way you manage speed for road conditions. The aim is calm, predictable driving.
Test-day confidence
We explain what to expect, help you settle before the test and keep the warm-up focused. You get practical guidance without pressure or rushed coaching.
Before you book
Who this driving test service is suited to
Our driving test preparation and car hire service is suited to learners who have already built the core skills needed for the practical test. You should be comfortable with normal traffic, intersections, lane changes, speed management and parking before booking the car for test day.
If you are nervous, that is normal. The warm-up lesson helps you get used to the car, review safe routines and calm your driving before you sit the test. If you are not yet ready, it is better to book more practice through driving lesson booking than to rush into the test.
We can help learners preparing in a manual or automatic vehicle. If you are choosing between transmissions, read more about manual driving lessons and automatic driving lessons before you decide which test pathway suits you.
- You have already practised the main test skills and want a final one-hour warm-up.
- You need a suitable driving school car for the Service NSW practical test.
- You want clear feedback without rushed or high-pressure instruction.

Frequently asked questions about driving test car hire
What is included in the driving test preparation and car hire?
The service includes pickup one hour before your confirmed test time, a one-hour warm-up lesson and use of the driving school car for your Service NSW driving test. The warm-up is used to settle in, check key routines and make sure you are comfortable in the vehicle.
If you need extra practice before test day, you can request a normal lesson through our booking page. You can also compare lesson types on our pricing page.
Are Service NSW test fees included?
No. Government test fees, licence fees and Service NSW charges are separate unless Service NSW confirms otherwise. Our driving test package covers the lesson time and use of the driving school car for the practical test.
If you are unsure whether to book the test yet, contact us through contact us or consider more practice with automatic driving lessons or manual lessons first.
Can I book the car if I have not had lessons with you before?
Possibly, but we need to confirm availability, pickup details and whether the booking is appropriate. We may recommend at least one lesson before test day so we can check your driving standard and help you get used to the vehicle.
You can submit your details through book a driving lesson. If you are outside our usual area, check our service areas first.
